Dog poop is an unpleasant subject, but when it comes to the health of the public, especially children, it must be addressed seriously.
This website is being launched by a private citizen. My name is Andy Ross and I am very involved in our community. I serve on the Board of Directors of Historic Wooster Association, and am Vice Chair of the Downtown/Wooster Square Management Team. I love my community and want to do everything I can to help make it a better and safer place to visit.

I have been living on Wooster Square for none years, and in all that time I never paid attention to dog waste in the park because I would always walk on the paved walkways and the perimeter sidewalks. I never spread out a blanket to get some sun or  to have a picnic.  Because of this, I never paid attention to the fact that dog poop might be in the park.

The one thing I did notice  all these years is that I saw alot of dog owners clean up after their dog. I thought this to bew a very neighborly and responsible thing to do. I later learned that it is in fact the law that a dog owner must pick up after their dog. Even though it is the law, I still respect people for cleaning up after their dog.
I practiced that the first day I took my dog out for a walk in the park. I brought my own bags and noticed that there are two bag stations placed at the Chapel Street and the Green Street entrances to the park.

Here is the poop on the poop.

Besides being unlawful for a person not to clean up after their dog, it is unhealthy to humans. (see the links below)
There are many children playing inthe park as well as people spreading out blanket for a picnic or a day of relaxation. It is just not right for them to have to encounter this unpleasantness. If the park continues to be disrespected, it could be closed as others have done already.  Please.. let's not lose this wonderful place to bring our dogs.

Please respect the law and be a good neighbor and Bag it and can it!

My hope is that as time goes along I can make this blog a source of information and savings for your pet.
If you agree with me on this subject, whether you have a pet or not, I would appreciate your taking the time out to email me.
I will be looking for a few volunteers to help manage the website as well.

This effort iis not just for Wooster Square Park or New Haven for that matter.  If you live in an area where you are experiencing this problem, please email me and I can arrange for your group to get signs and access to the website with your own messages and ideas.
